Day 1-3

Guests arriving at Lusaka International Airport enjoy a meet and assist service before they board a scheduled flight to the Lower Zambezi National Park. Arriving guests may have to lunch at Lusaka Airport – flight arrival times and outbound scheduling dependent. The tour arrives at the Royal Airstrip from where guests are met by lodge staff and transferred by safari vehicle to the lodge (20 minutes).

The Lower Zambezi National Park and the adjacent eastern Chiawa Game Management Area are protected regions, home to large herds of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and hyena. Set against the backdrop of the Zambezi Escarpment, this is undoubtedly one of Africa’s most beautiful wilderness areas. Situated on the northern bank of the Zambezi River and adjacent Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools World Heritage Site, Baines’ River Camp offers a range of safari activities. A comfortable sofa on the private veranda of each suite invites guests to relax and enjoy breathtaking views across Africa’s fourth largest river. Daily activities include river safaris, sunset cruises, fishing (catch and release), canoe safaris, morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, and walking safaris. Walking safaris are more comfortable in the autumn and winter months.

Overnight at Baines’ River Camp or similar – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

Day 4-6

Guests enjoy an early morning activity and depart after breakfast by boat and road for Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. The boat transfer berths at Gwabi Lodge, from where guests board a vehicle and transfer to Kariba. The transfer will take approximately 4 hours, including immigration procedures at both the Zambian and Zimbabwean border posts. Guests arrive at the Kariba Marineland and board the luxury Matusadona Houseboat. Lake Kariba is the world’s largest man-made lake, and in places the lake is up to 40km wide and 280km long, so that in certain places, it may feel like an ocean instead of a dam.

Acclaimed for its beautiful sunsets, wildlife viewing and tiger fishing, Lake Kariba is encircled by the Matusadona National Park. The park is one of the last wild sanctuaries for the black rhino and also has a high population of lion. Guests cruise the shores of one of Africa’s last wilderness areas on board The Matusadona, the only luxury motor cruiser of its kind on Lake Kariba. Three additional boats sail with The Matusadona to facilitate the lake activities. There is a spacious open-plan outdoor entertainment area, offering 360° views of Lake Kariba. Daily activities include game viewing by boat, game viewing by safari vehicle in the Matusadona National Park (one complimentary game drive) and fishing.

Overnight at on board The Matusadona – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

Day 7

Guests disembark The Matusadona and are transferred to their scheduled air transfer from either Kariba International Airport or from a private airstrip in the Matusadona National Park to Harare International Airport from where they continue with their own arrangements.
