Entering the Namib Naukluft National Park with sunrise, the first rays of sunlight paint the mountains of sand into a variety of apricot, red and orange, contrasted against a crisp blue skyline, dazzling our senses, and providing an opportunity to capture this awesome landscape on film. You will be captivated by the surreal Dead Vlei surrounded by some of the highest dunes in the world and Sossusvlei, where the dry Tsauchab River ends abruptly amongst dunes. Take the opportunity to walk up one of these majestic dunes to admire the desert landscape beneath. Thereafter we visit the Sesriem Canyon, a life sustaining natural phenomenon in the heart of the Namib Desert.

Superior overnight: Kulala Desert Lodge – Fully inclusive.

Day 3-4

After breakfast you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Swakopmund. The entire flight takes you over the dune landscape of the oldest desert in the world, and along the Atlantic coastline. Having arrived in Swakopmund, the rest of the day is spent at leisure. With palm-lined streets and seaside promenades, Swakopmund is a very popular holiday destination in Namibia. Its pleasant summer climate and long stretches of beach attract anglers and surfers from all over southern Africa.

For the international guest, Swakopmund is a bohemian mix of German correctness and African time, laid-back attitude with high adrenalin activities, misty mornings and desert heat. It is colourful, it is vibrant, but most of all, it is fun. Swakopmund is often fondly referred to as the “playground of Namibia”, it has numerous activities ranging from, adventure to exploring the fascinating features of the Namib Desert and the animals and plants that occur and survive here. Embrace the relaxed pace of this idyllic coastal town whilst enjoying coffee and freshly-baked pastries in one of the many cafés. Alternatively explore the rugged, sweltering desert on a day tour, or view this awesome, environment from the air on a scenic flight.

Comfort overnight: Hansa Hotel – Breakfast.
Superior overnight: Villa Margherita – Breakfast.

End of southern circuit: Transfer back to Windhoek by shuttle, proceed on the Northern Circuit or start yourself drive safari from Swakopmund.

Northern Circuit

This circuit caters for guests who would like to drive the first part of their vacation and then fly the rest of the trip from Swakopmund, or those who would like to complete the circuit.

Day 5

Your flight proceeds north into Damaraland, an area marked by steep mountain massifs that tower over meandering riverbeds and form the survival structure for desert elephant, black rhino, and a myriad of free-roaming antelope species. Your lodge is situated in close vicinity to the geological attractions that are visited in the afternoon or during the morning of the next day. The highlight of these attractions is Twyfelfontein, representing one of Namibia’s World Heritage Sites.

Comfort overnight: Twyfelfontein Lodge – Breakfast and dinner.
Superior overnight: Doro Nawas – Fully inclusive.

Day 6-8

After a short flight you arrive at the southern edge of the magnificent Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves. The following days are devoted purely to open vehicle game drives in search of the abundant wildlife found in the Etosha National Park, which surrounds a parched salt desert known as the Etosha Pan. The park is home to four of the ‘Big 5’ – elephant, lion, leopard, and rhino. Popular game species such as giraffe, blue wildebeest, plains and mountain zebra, hyena, lion, leopard, antelopes such as kudu, oryx, eland, as well as some of the endangered species such as black rhino, cheetah, and the black-faced impala are all found here.

The Etosha Pan dominates the park. This salt pan desert, which is nearly completely enclosed by the park and is lined by numerous watering holes, is roughly 130km long and as wide as 50km in places. It is claimed that game viewing is best during the dry spells as animals will then congregate closer to water. But even in the rainy season the park remains an abundant wildlife haven. You then have the pleasure of experiencing the rebirth of life as the young foals, cubs, and chicks are seen frolicking with their parents and the sprouting new green shrubs and grasses create a pleasing green oasis.

Comfort overnight: Etosha Village – Breakfast and dinner.
Superior overnight: Ongava Lodge – Fully inclusive.

Day 9

After breakfast you fly back to Windhoek, arriving in the late morning and where your safari ends.
