A new conference,The Business Events Conference, powered by ibtm Africa, is set to take place this year during World Travel Market (WTM) Africa in Cape Town.

The event promises to be a dynamic conference built around high-quality discussions focused on content relevant to operating in the meetings and events space in Africa.

Three sessions will take place in WTM Africa’s Inspire Theatre between  11h30 and 14h15 on April 18. The second day’s session will coincide with the Sports & Events Tourism Exchange (SETE), between 10h30 and 13h30.

Leading the charge will be Rudi van der Vyver, Chief Executive of the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI). All corporate buyers and professional meeting personnel are invited to attend.

Speakers for the sessions include Wilson Jn. Baptiste, CEO of Global Enterprises Management Solutions, LLC; Esmaré Steinhöfel, Regional

Director (Africa) at the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA); Glyn Taylor, Joint CEO of Century City Conference Centre; Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo, Chief Convention Bureau Officer for South Africa National Convention Bureau (SANCB); Peter-John Mitrovich, CEO of Grosvenor Tours and President of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE); as well as Monique Bester, GM at Tourvest IME.

Speaker sessions will include a look at the impact of meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) on destinations, with an event industry panel that will examine current trends in this sector, and a practical look at how professional conference organisers can work alongside the South African National Conventions Bureau.
