The aha Kathu Hotel, in Kathu in the Northern Cape, has reopened with a fresh new look, following the completion of a comprehensive R6.9m (€418 000) refurbishment.

The hotel was temporarily closed from February 4 to May 31 earlier this year.

The extensive makeover included a complete overhaul of every room, bathroom and public facility on the premises.

The work has increased the hotel’s already quaint charm and all 79 bedrooms were completely transformed.

aha Hotels & Lodges CEO, Graeme Edmond, says: “The hotel has always had a contemporary and comfortable feel to it. We are confident that we have maintained that while injecting some fresh new energy and enhanced features into the environment. We are really looking forward to wowing our guests with an even more memorable hotel experience in this very special part of the Northern Cape.”

Additions include modern furniture and light fixtures, as well as USB ports in the rooms for easy charging of devices, and new mirrors.

The suite now has walk-in cupboards and stylish contemporary décor.

Every room also received a complete tech/technological makeover, with upgraded TV sets, faster, more efficient uncapped WiFi access and new lockset handles.

The renovated interior area of the restaurant seats 36 guests and the outside pool area accommodates nine in its luxurious setting. There is also a breakfast area and brand-new bar.
