GoVacation Africa: Growth and opportunity

The launch of GoVacation Africa was officially announced in May 2017, and over the last 12 months, its growth has been anything but stagnant.

From humble beginnings, GoVacation Africa started out with 50 employees in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and grew to over 100 employees in 7 more African cities, namely Arusha, Nairobi, Mombasa, Stone Town, Kampala, Windhoek, and Otjiwarongo.

GoVacation Africa is led by a strong operational management team:

Sabine Blehle, CEO of GoVacation Africa, started in the travel and tourism industry with an apprenticeship in Germany at a tourist office of a mountain resort. With 27 years of experience, Sabine has been a key role player in the incentives and meetings environment, as well as the inbound leisure market, in South Africa.

Silke Bullerdiek, director of business and product development, has been actively involved in the tourism industry since 2000 and has been working on the DER Touristik account for over 7 years. Silke’s main role in GoVacation Africa is to successfully plan and execute the conception, pricing, promotion and distribution of products and packages, providing a wide variety of wonderful travel options for our guests.

Sabine Pfeiffer, key accounts director for DER Touristik Germany, has been working in the South Africa inbound industry for 10 years. Sabine is responsible for day to day operations and ensuring DER Touristik travellers are given the best experience while in Africa.

Christiane Glanz, key accounts director for DER Touristik UK and Suisse, has been in the inbound and corporate travel industry for 25 years. Christiane is responsible for on the ground service excellence, and making DER Touristik travellers’ dreams come true.
